Position at Unity: I am the Principal. I have the privilege of leading this fine group of teachers and staff.

Professional and Educational Background: In 1991 I earned my BA in Secondary Education ( History/ English) from Dordt College. In 2000, I completed my MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin. I most recently graduated from the Van Lunen Program for Executive Leadership in 2007.
I taught for 3 years in Canada at Calvin Christian Schoo lin Winnipeg, Manitoba. I left Calvin Christian in 1995 and entered into school leadership at Delavan Christian School. After serving in Delavan for 8 years, I moved into high school leadership for the past 7 years at Sheboygan County Christian High School, 2003-2010.

Childhood and Family Background: I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. After Dordt, I married Sue Theune (Dordt grad-1992) in July of 1993. We have lived as a married couple in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Delavan, WI, Oostburg, WI and now Orange City. I have extended family in WI, MI, Pella, Iowa and in Ontario and Manitoba. In 2007 I became a US citizen.
I tell people that I am moving back to Iowa where it all began. I really mean that. I fell in love with my wife in Iowa, grasped the grace of God in Iowa, and was professionally trained to be who I am today in Iowa. It is good to be back!

Church Life: My family and I are currently visiting local churches; I guess you would say we are church " shopping".  We hope to make a decision on a home church by Christmas.  Until then, it is a blessing to visit and meet many people in the local churches. 

Life Outside of Unity: Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife Sue and our four children Zachary, Seth, Abigail and Levi. As a family we enjoy many hobbies including playing golf, reading, listening to great Christian music, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, playing and watching hockey and camping/fishing.

Why I Work at Unity: I am delighted to serve Unity and to play a role in teaching high school students about the supremacy of Jesus Christ in every sphere of life. It is an honor to be the current principal of Unity serving families and parents, some with whom were classmates of mine at Dordt College. God is so good and so in control of the paths of our lives.
