Over that time the majority of my teaching has been in PE and Business. I have also been coaching since 1986 and have 25 years experience as Athletic Director.

Childhood and Family Background:I grew up in Sioux Center, IA. I attended Sioux Center Christian School and graduated from Unity in 1984. My wife, Stephanie (Jacobsma), grew up in Sioux City, and Orange City, and also graduated from Unity in 1984. Stephanie is the Compliance Officer at Iowa State Bank. Kelly and her husband Patrick(Sinnema) live in Sioux Center. Kelly is working on her Masters degree in Psychology from USD and Pat works at Dordt College and is an Asst. Baseball coach for them. Kristen, Tyler (Wassenaar), and daughter Haley live in Orange City. Kristen is a nurse and Tyler works on the family farm. Heather attends Northwestern College majoring in elementary education.

Church Life: We are members of Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Life Outside of Unity: I enjoy almost anything that involves sports. I love spending time with family and friends and if there is time an occasional sprint car race. Our family enjoys time at Okoboji and just hanging out together. The addition of grandchildren has been a true blessing from God.

Why I Work at Unity: I feel blessed to be able to work and serve God at Unity. It is a joy to see young people mature and grow in their walk with the Lord. There are many exciting and challenging opportunities going on in our halls. To have a small part in that process is very rewarding. I am encouraged by the outstanding staff we have at Unity. Our parents, staff, students and community love the Lord and seek to do His will in their daily lives. The privilege of a Christ-centered education for all of our children has been one of life's greatest joys.
