Position at Unity: I am a paraprofessional in the Learning Center for periods 5-8.
Professional and Educational Background: I graduated from Dordt College in 1991 with a B.A. degree in Secondary Education. My major was Business Education. In 1992, I began teaching in the Business and Math departments here at Unity Christian. I taught full-time until 1998, then part-time until 2003. For the last 8 years, I have stayed at home with my kids, and also did part-time daycare in our home. The last few years I have been very active with the AAU volleyball program, as well as coaching volleyball in the middle school for OCCS.
Childhood and Family Background: I was born and raised in Sioux Center, IA. I attended Sioux Center Christian School, Western Christian High School, and Dordt College. In August of 1992, I married Ken Timmermans from Sunnyside, Washington. We have four daughters, Jessica is a freshman here at Unity, Alli is a 7th grader at OCCS, Corrina is a 5th grader at OCCS, and Sabrina is in Covenant Kids Preschool.
Church Life: Our family attends 1st CRC in Orange City, where I currently teach K-1 Sunday school.
Life Outside of Unity: I enjoy spending time with family and friends outside of school. Our family loves traveling to Washington state to visit family in the summers. We also enjoy a lot of different sports activities that our family is involved in.
Why I Work at Unity: I feel blessed to have this opportunity to be back at Unity Christian. Teaching here for eleven years was a wonderful experience. Unity Christian High School is a special place where the students and staff can learn and grow in their walk with the Lord through every aspect of life.
