Unity Christian High School

Class Description

Physical science is a general exploration of the principles of physics and chemistry. The concepts studied help explain the many topics related to matter and energy. Special units also apply physical principles to earth science topics such as meteorology, astronomy, and geology. The course includes lectures, demonstrations, group work, lab experiences, and a science fair project.

Class Expectations

Class Outline

Science is the process of investigating and developing God's physical creation.

I want each student to experience the WOW of God's creation.  WONDER, OBSERVE, and WORSHIP.

The following topics will be addressed in each semester.

1st Semester.  Chemistry

1. The Composition of Matter.  What God-purpose and God-design do we see in the matter of this world?

2. Types of Substances. What materials has God gifted us to use in a stewardly manner?

3. Interactions of Matter. How do we see God providing for a changing and dynamic world through physical and chemical changes?

2nd Semester. Physics

1. Matter in Motion. What purpose and design do we see in the way that God upholds the very forces and motion we see in creation?

2. Energy at Work. What types of energy has God gifted us to use and enjoy in a stewardly manner?

3. Electricity and Magnetism. How do we see God providing for a changing and dynamic world through the discovery and development of the gift of atomic charges?
