Mr. Karl Kaemingk
Position at Unity: I teach Multimedia Communication, Computer Aided Design I, Computer Aided Design II and Technology Systems A and B. I also coach Boys Cross Country in the Fall and Boys Track in the Spring. I am the Technology Coordinator here at Unity and I enjoy working with computers.
Professional and Educational Background: I graduated from Dordt College in 1987 with a B.A. in Mathematics Education and a minor in Theology. My wife and I moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fl and taught in Westminster Academy for 3 years. I taught High School math and Junior High Bible as well as coaching Boys Cross Country, Soccer and Track. In 1990 we moved to Sioux Center, IA and I began teaching here at Unity Christian. First I taught General Math, Computer Programming, and coordinated the Resource Room. In 1993 I graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with a M.A. and Computer Based Learning and began the technology program here at Unity.
Childhood and Family Background: I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I attended Van Dellen Elementary School and graduated from Denver Christian High School in 1983. While at Dordt College in Sioux Center I fell in love with Shirley Noteboom and we were married on August 2, 1986. After moving back to northwest Iowa our family grew in May of 1992 when God sent Sarah Jeanne into our lives. Since then the Lord has blessed us with Heather Joy in November 1994, Andrew Karl in September 1996, and Nicole Lynn in February of 1999.
Church Life: Our family enjoys attending Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. We are active in Children's worship and the Sunday school programs. I have served on the Education Committee, Faith Mission and Outreach Committee and the Social Justice Committee. I have served as a deacon and I am currently serving as an Elder and teaching 9th grade catechism.
Life Outside of Unity: Outside of school I teach adult computer classes for AEA 4 staff development, and Morningside Colleges. For rest and relaxation I love running, and reading historical fiction (especially westerns). Our family enjoys going the the All Seasons Center and the Dordt rec center in the winter and camping in the summer. There is nothing more exciting in life for me than being a dad to my 4 kids.
Why I Teach at Unity: God's creative and sustaining power is evident in all things but sin still taints all of life. There is no part of life or creation that does not need the transforming power of God. All students are servants and disciples of Christ. I cannot think of a more exciting career than to lead, follow and work side by side with students as we together grow in the wisdom and knowledge of Christ.
