Position at Unity: I am the Development Director which includes Fundraising, Alumni Relations, Public Relations and UCHS Foundation.

Professional and Educational Background: I graduate from Unity Christian in 1967 with the very first graduating class. I served in the Air National Guard and Air Force for 5 years. In 1971 I purchased the Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Orange City and operated it for 28 years. After selling he store I worked in Purchasing and Sales. On August 1st I became the Development Director here at Unity.

Childhood and Family Background: I was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, and attended Country School there until 4th grade when we moved to Orange City. I attended Orange City Christian School and Unity Christian High School. On June 26, 1970 I married my high school sweetheart Wendy Rens. We have 4 children: Shawn is a stay at home mom, married to Brad Zwart. They live here in Orange City, and they have 3 children, Trevor 9, Aubyn 7, Kelli 2 and are expecting their 4th child in October. Tim lives in Sioux Center and works at Greenworld Landscaping. He married Abby Jansen in June of this year. Dan works as a Physical Therapist in Orange City. He married Brittany Groeneweg, and they live in Orange City. They have 2 children, James 2, and Carsen 2 months. Our youngest daughter Lisa does day care at her home i Hull. She married Brad Kats and they have one child, Abby, 18 months old. All four of our children graduated from Unity Christian.

Church Life: My wife and I attend Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. I have served as deacon and I am currently serving as elder.

Life Outside of Unity: My wife and i enjoy traveling. I enjoy golfing and watching many of the Unity and college sporting events. We enjoy spending time with our families, especially our grandchildren.

Why I Work at Unity: Unity has been a big part of my life. My wife and I attended here and so did our 4 children. I thank God for the opportunity to work at Unity to promote Christian Education. I look forward to working with dedicated Staff, Administration and Board to keep Unity strong for future generations.
