Position at Unity:  Spanish 2, 3, and 4 teacher!

 

Professional and Educational Background: I graduated from Calvin College in May, 2011. I have graduated with a BA. K+12 Spanish Education and a Health Education Minor.

 

Childhood and Family Background:  I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and have loved living here. My parents both still live in GR and my dad works in landscaping and my mom is an RN. I have two older brothers, one living in Georgia with his wife and their two boys, and the other in GR with his wife. I attended The Potter's House Christian School K-8 and then after my family moved to the Southeast side of town I attended Grand Rapids Christian High School for grades 9-12. I loved having experienced both a very small private school and then a much larger private school. After GRCHS, I went right on to Calvin and loved it there. I am very thankful to God for the wonderful family and education He has blessed me with!

 

Church Life:  I am currently searching for a church in NW Iowa, but when I'm in GR, I attend Roosevelt Park Community CRC.

 

Life Outside of Unity: I love to travel, particularly to Spanish speaking countries, but traveling in general is amazing. I enjoy staying active by running, biking, kyaking, and hiking. I love to camp and backpack with family and friends and in general love spending time outside. I also enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family and practicing my Spanish. 

 

Why I Teach at Unity: I am excited about teaching at Unity because the staff is wonderful and so are the students. I feel blessed to be able to teach in a place where I can share my faith with my students. I truly believe that God has called me to teach here and feel so fortunate to be able to work with both students and staff who are following after Jesus Christ daily.
