Position at Unity: I currently work in the Enrichment Program and I teach Applied Geometry and Geometry at Unity. This position gives me the opportunity to help students use their abilities. Some extra-curricular activities with which I am involved at school are: Quiz Bowl, JETS/Teams activities, American High School Math Exam, writing competitions, and Game Club.
Professional and Educational Background: I graduated from Dordt College in 1987 with a B.A. in Mathematics education and a minor in physical education. My husband and I moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and taught at Westminster Academy for three years. I taught junior high and high school mathematics as well as coaching volleyball and track. In 1990, we moved to Sioux Center, Iowa and I taught PE at Sioux Center Christian for two years. After the birth of our first child, I began to work quarter time at Unity as their TAG coordinator. In 2003, I began to teach some geometry classes.
Childhood and Family Background: I was born in Orange City, Iowa and attended Orange City Christian and Unity Christian. While at Dordt College, I met and married Karl Kaemingk from Denver, Colorado. We have four children: Sarah (17), Heather (15), Andrew (13), and Nicole (11).
Church Life: Our family attends Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. I have been involved with the Sunday School program and I have worked on the church's newsletter.
Life Outside of Unity: When I am not at Unity, I am busy being a mother to our four children. As a family, we enjoy camping and biking in the summer.
Why I Teach at Unity: Students are all unique and I feel it a privilege to help students use the abilities which they have been given. Our heavenly Father requires us to serve Him in the world and students need to learn how to use their skills to serve Him.
