Class Description
(open to seniors) Seven major technical principles are studied as they apply to the mechanical, fluid, electrical, and thermal energy systems. The course emphasizes mastery of these technical principles through videos, discussion, demonstrations, lecture, and extensive lab experiences with specific equipment used by the technician. Problem solving using algebra skills requires an Algebra I background. (Limited to 18 students)
Class Expectations
Testing Information:
* Tests every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Approximately nine units per semester.
* First test: 2 weeks after the start of each semester.
*Standard review sheet for each test.
Quizzes:
*Occasional quizzes over essential facts or learned skills.
Daily Work:
* Time outside of class: 20 minutes a day
* Daily work includes memory work, reading questions over each unit, math problems, lab reports, study for tests.
* Checked for completion each day or assignments collected.
Lab Work:
*Two lab activities or demonstrations per unit.
*Each student prepares a summary of labs done throughout the year. A notebook is kept of the cumulative reports.
Major Projects:
* Technology Display
* Toy motor project

Miscellaneous: Factors important for success in the course.
* Completion of daily homework
* Memorization of quantities and units used in each unit.
* Proper use of equipment in a laboratory setting
* Ability to work with others in a lab setting.
Final Grade:
* Each nine weeks grade is a percentage of the accumulated points from tests, quizzes, papers, projects, labs, and daily assignments.
